[edit] Greetings
I am new to wikipedia as a registered party, but have been a long time reader.
I am committed to helping where I can to make articles NPOV. Please do not mistake my attempting to do this as an endorsement of any type of position. As a wise man once said, "I am not political." [at least not while editing wikipedia]
Incidentally, it is my humble opinion that people should be constantly searching for knowledge and I sincerely believe that wikipedia can help many in this pursuit. However, all of us owe a duty to try to be as neutral as possible when adding to this database of knowledge. Hopefully we can all remember that when we make additions that may be controversial to cite them properly to prevent conflict over interpretations.
[edit] Roman History
While I am a supporter of Gaius Julius Caesar, I always try to make any contributions or edits NPOV. Caesar was certainly an exceptional man, though it is understandable that many question whether his actions were justified: Did the obstructionist acts of Cato and the Boni force Caesar's hand, or did his dignitas matter above all others, even to the detriment of his fellow Romans and perhaps Rome herself? Everyone has his or her own answer, and I certainly know what I would have done in his shoes. That said, when making contributions, I will always try to be NPOV. If you have any disagreements, please let me know and I am sure we can come to an agreement.
[edit] List of Great Romans of the Late Republic
Gaius Marius - the man who changed the way Roman fought and it too often overlooked
Lucius Cornelius Sulla - a talented general and one of the few boni who made a serious attempt to reform Rome and not simply obstruct
Gaius Julius Caesar - Military genius and talented writer, but did not do enough to repair Rome's serious constitutional problems (Probably because he was killed by lesser men)
Marcus Tullius Cicero - Literary Genius but made far too much of his mediocre consulship, a bit of an oddity but still a talented man
Augustus - Remade Rome and did all the hard constitutional work that Caesar could not
