M/S Crown of Scandinavia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

M/S Crown of Scandinavia is a ferry built in 1994 by Brodogradiliste Split in Split, Croatia. It has a capacity of about 2100 passengers and 450 cars.

The ship was ordered by Sea-Link Shipping AB to be put in traffic in 1992 for Euroway between Malmö - Travemünde - Lübeck, under the name Frans Kockum. Euroway however cancelled their order in 1992 due to unprofitability on the route and delayments at the shipyard. The shipyard continued building (the ship was renamed Thomas Mann for the time being), and completed the ship in 1994. On May 12, 1994 it was sold to DFDS and delivered on June 11. They made some changed to the ship, like adding stern sponsons. It was then put on the route Copenhagen - Helsingborg - Oslo.

DFDS are planning to drop the call in Helsingborg starting from October 2006 to cut down fuel and pilot expenses.

M/S Crown of Scandinavia has three sister ships: M/S Amorella, M/S Gabriella (originally Frans Suell of Euroway) and M/S Isabella.
