M'era Luna Festival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The M'era Luna Festival is one of the most important events of the Dark Culture and Gothic Rock in Europe. It is takes place in Hildesheim, Germany on the second weekend of every August.
The show is held at Flugplatz Hildesheim, a former British Army base, and now commercially run by Lufthansa airlines.
M'era Luna includes camping facilities and has two stages; one, a large rock festival style structure, erected for the show each year and the other, a former aircraft hangar. It also features DJ sets on Friday and Saturday evening.
Around 20,000 people attend the festival every summer, many flying in via the Hannover airport, with others travelling via road and railway.
The festival can be seen in the present version of Google Earth.
