M-o-o-t

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The correct title of this article is m-o-o-t. The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.

m-o-o-t is a free open-source operating system intended to boot from a CD and which claims to contain all the cryptographic code needed to defeat Government Access to Keys (GAK) laws.

Originally conceived with the aim of defeating part 3 of the UK's Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (aka the RIP Act), the author has publicly stated that "m-o-o-t" will not be released until the British government begins implementing this particular section of the legislation. However, having been first announced in October 2000 and with no releases to date; this does raise the suggestion that "m-o-o-t" is, in fact, simply vapourware
