Müsel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Müsel (real name Dave Musel) was the keyboardist and a prop manufacturer for the Richmond, VA, metal band GWAR. Musel (whose name is pronounced "muscle"), joined in 1986 and left shortly after the recording of We Kill Everything.
A number of the props and sets were made by Musel, who was skilled with wood and metal working - areas in which other members of Slave Pit Inc. were weaker. He joined while studying for his MFA at Virginia Commonweath University, the university where a number of the Slave Pit members met, and the band began in 1985. Initially, he portrayed a number of characters, and gradually became a "man behind the scenes," where he would take on the role of keyboards and samples.
Musel's contributions musically were usually in the live sound, but he was featured heavily on a number of songs (the title track to America Must Be Destroyed has him using samples in lieu of Dave Brockie's vocals, and the entire RagNaRok album was influenced largely by Musel).
After the recording of We Kill Everything, he left to pursue individual art work. He is a frequent consultant for a number sculptors in the United States.
