Mélanie is Céline Dion 's sixth French album released in Québec, Canada in August 1984 which proved to be a commercial success.

Title track was dedicated to Céline's little niece Karine (diagnosed with cystic fibrosis) . The album was another commercial success reaching gold status in Canada for over 50,000 copies sold. The same happened with the song "Une Colombe" which Dion sang for Pope John Paul II and 65,000 of people at the Olympic Stadium (Montreal) (1984). Céline won at that time 5 Félix Awards. The album produced 2 Top 5 Québec singles in "Une Colombe" and "Mon Rêve de Toujours" which peaked at #2 and #4 respectively. There was also third single released - "Un Amour Pour Moi."
In October 1984 Céline released in France her second album called Les Oiseaux du Bonheur which contained 5 songs from Mélanie (3, 4, 5, 8 & 9).
