Mälardalen University (Sv.: Mälardalens högskola), or MdH, is a university college located in Västerås and Eskilstuna, Sweden. It has 15,000 students and over 1,000 employees, of which around 40 are professors. Mälardalen University is the world's first environmentally certified school according to the international standard ISO 14001.

One of the newest programs at the university is the "Game Development and Interaction" program, a Computer Science MSc program with specialization in fields such as graphics programming, AI and game physics.

Professor Ingegerd Palmér was appointed Rector of Mälardalen University by the Swedish Government and took office on October 17, 2005. Palmér has a PhD in Mathematics and has filled various positions at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University and Luleå University of Technology. She served two full terms as Rector at Luleå University of Technology between 1994-2005, leaving office due to term limits. She is a fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
