Lystrup

Lystrup is one of the smaller suburbs of Aarhus (the second largest city in Denmark), and is found 10 km north of the city. Populated by more than 11.000 residents, makes it the 7'th most populated suburb of Aarhus.

Three schools (Lystrup Skole, Elsted Skole and Elev Skole), several kindergartens, after-school centres and private daycarers makes it a suburb full of childlife, and has the resent years had a substantial flow of family residents.

Lystrup also provides good shopping possibilities, with several smaller, specialized boutiques along with one major, and three minor supermarkets. SuperBrugsen is one of the big co-operative supermarket chains in Denmark. Lystrup also provides a local library, for all citizens of Aarhus to loan books, free of charge.

Lystrup also has great sport facilities, and local club L.I.F offers a wide range of activities on all levels i.e Football (soccer), water polo, tennis, handball, swimming, badminton, squash and basketball.

A huge industrial area lies on the east side of Lystrup, and one of the country's (and Europe's) most successful corporations Terma is located here.
[edit] Public Transport
Public transportation in Lystrup and Aarhus is primarily by busses, but Lystrup also has a smaller train-station for the local train, that services the citizens of eastern Jutland from the city of Grenaa to Aarhus. Also busses 9 and 53 goes to the town several times an hour. All public transportation is provided by Århus Sporveje - the oldest and only municipal driven transport firm in the country.
[edit] Recreation Areas
A small forest is located just north of the railroad, and the forest (in danish: Sønderskov) is officially a "dog forest", which means that people are allowed to walk their dogs here, without a leash. But the forest is used for a wide range of recreation i.e horseback-riding, jogging and girl-scout activities.

Just north of the forest you will find one of three churches in the Lystrup area, Lystrup Kirke is the new church in town, build in 1989 in medieval style. Other churches are Elev Kirke(build circa 1100) and Elsted Kirke(build 1210)
