[edit] Broken table

I posted a reply in your sandbox. Saxbryn 13:20, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Destruction of Wachusett Dam image context

Hello, LymanSchool I think I put a well visible head tag denoting that I sometimes miss out certain tables I convert and am happy to be notified about these mistakes. This might have given you the impression that I don't check changes at all, which isn't the case. In fact, I usually check the actualized appearence, the original appearence as well as the converted table syntax and try to tidy the latter one where time allows it. I am very well aware there musn't be an optical discrepancy (except for a wanted one), not least I converted already about 3000 tables and spent countless hours to go through them. The way I convert doesn't allow preview and is more or less automatized (tables without proper HTML syntax are consequently skipped), which most certainly does produce betimes faulty results. However, previewing every single table before changing it would never enable me to scan larger parts without excessive time consumption. Examining changes by observing the contribution list and particulary reverting changes while the script is running, heavily speeds up the process. The relatively small amount (so far) of both failed and missed conversion is maintainable in my opinion, because it is very likely a responsible wikipedian like I guess you are, will revert the accidental damage in no-time. If you think my editing policy is not bearable, feel free to contact an administrator. Regards, Saxbryn 18:51, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

The only thing I respond to your brazen-faced answer: I do not care about edit counts at all, my aspiration is solely replacing as many HTML tables I can to simplify their usage and alternation. I strongly recommend you to refrain from your polemic way of writing, capitalizing and bold formatting words and to search another outlet for your personal frustration. [edit] No probs

Hi, no probs, happy to help where I can! Regards, Ziggurat 21:34, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Ah, yes, let me add my welcome to that of others. It is a pleasure to have an expert on water resources in Massachusetts, especially one who conducts such a good coffee break. If I enter your articles it will be mayhap to add some etymology to the names. But also I want to suggest that many bodies of water in Eurasia are of deep historical interest if you should care to make any interesting side jaunts. Best wishes.Dave 21:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merrimack River

Hi LymanSchool, I'm going to change the infobox in Nashua River back to Merrimack River for two reasons: 1. That's how it's officially recognized by the federal Board on Geographic Names ( go to their web site, click on "Query GNIS: U.S. and territories", then enter "Merrimac River", and you'll see what I mean), and 2. It's already been discussed and resolved on the Wikipedia Merrimack River page. I realize a lot of people in Massachusetts prefer the spelling with no k, but "Merrimac" is still the variant, not the official name. Thanks for putting the box together, though. --Ken Gallager 12:43, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I didn't realize you hadn't edited it yet. --Ken Gallager 12:44, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

You're right, Merrimac, Massachusetts is spelled without a "K". That is also recorded in the GNIS. --Ken Gallager 13:00, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] QuaboagRiver

Hi, I tried reverting to the changed version without success, so I'm not sure what's up. It is possible that you need to clear the browser cache when reloading the page to make sure that the image is the most recent one (on Firefox you hit ctrl+f5, I'm not sure what the equivalent is on IE or other browsers). I'm not great with images, so you could ask at the Wikipedia:Help desk. What I normally do is upload the image under a different name and then request a speedy deletion of the old image (as a redundant image). Hope this helps! Ziggurat 00:24, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Richard, I hope you'll find this document useful for articles you are working on. http://www.mass.gov/dep/water/resources/2006il3.pdf Solarapex 21:23, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] QSL/GROVELAND

Hi Dick,

Thanks for the message on my QSO page. Good job on the Groveland, Ma stuff; looks good and QRK is 5 by 9. I looked over the pages for my birth QTH and my current QTH and someone has already done FB job on both so there is no need for me to QSK. So, I still have nothing to write about except for my little QRP user page. Oh, well. I am sure I will think of something to QSO about and contribute to the QRM on Wiki. Well, I am going to QST and QSY for now. QSO later!

[edit] Re:Bagnall Elementary School (Groveland, Massachusetts)

Right now it's prod'ed, which means you can remove it if you have cause (and you do, since you believe it's notable). Go ahead and remove it, and put your reasoning in the edit summary and the article. I removed the address/schedule information because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not the yellow pages. I don't mean to be harsh here, and I fully support your attempts at adding to the 'pedia. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 22:05, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Hello. Just wanted to say that I was trying to add to this article, but there's not much to be found online. Happy editing, Fang Aili talk 00:04, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit to Quabbin Reservoir

Please read Wikipedia:Redirect#Don't fix links to redirects that aren't broken. Thank you. --NE2 19:12, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

It's not correct; read what I linked above. --NE2 19:36, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Please see any contemporary style guide as to the appropriateness of single-paragraph "sections". (And I would note, just in passing, that the editor who "worked hard" to write those paragraphs was in fact myself, so it's not like I'm suddenly popping up to disrupt "your" article. I don't complain when other people improve text that I wrote.) 121a0012 06:37, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Dam(n) templates

I see you fixed the dams by making a temporary template. Good. Why don't these helpers test stuff in their sandbox? Also I note that you cheated when you made the Template:Infobox_Aqueduct. Not only did you copy one that worked <grin> but I notice that you tested it in User:LymanSchool/sandbox. I honestly didn't know that you could transclude a template from a non-template directory! Good find! So you just do User:LymanSchool/sandbox/Template:infobox aqueduct --neat! Later ---N26825 13:14, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I'm back

Thanks Dick. I'm back. I have to fight a couple of Wikipedia bonfires. Someone wants to delete an article of mine. C'est Wikipedia. I'm going to fight for it when I get caught up with other stuff. Missed you at the table. I see you attracted some attention with your templates. They don't know who they are up against (yuk yuk). Public life - ain't it grand? Smile.Dave 11:25, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Destruction of the Groveland page

Ummm...have you ever been to Groveland? I'm not sure why you insist on deleting references to the Sandpits which are major geographic and social chunk of South Groveland. Have you been down Center St???? This was from anonymous 20:33, 5 December 2006 160.39.78.156

[edit] North Brookfield page

My apologies for the removal of your contribution. It was inadvertent. There was a crude reference to homosexuality which I had to remove but it appears I was mistakingly looking at an older version. --scskowron 23:56, 06 December 2006

[edit] Millers River

Hello! Are you going to add an infobox and picture to your Millers River article? Just wanted to know because I'm nearly finished with the Chicopee River Watershed and all its important water bodies so I might get involved in another watershed soon. ---LymanSchool 22:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi there! No, I wasn't planning to add any more to the Millers River article. I seem to be mildly engaged in writing up Mass rivers, but now that I notice that you're doing so much, I'll try to blend in with what you've been creating. Naturally, please feel free to edit anything to bring it into your plan. Cheers! Daderot 08:44, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
