[edit] Biography

Lymsleia Falenas is the Heir Apparent to the throne of the Queendom of Falena. She is the younger of Arshtat Falenas's two children.

Lymsleia is absolutely devoted to her family. She listens dutifully to her mother when she explains the things necessary to become Queen, she is polite and extremely attentive to her father Ferid Egan whenever he speaks, and would never think to speak to him without the utmost respect, and she absolutely dotes upon her older brother Freyjadour Falenas, always listening to him and wanting to spend almost every day with him.

Lym's bodyguard is Miakis, and, although the two girls often bicker, often due to Miakis's tendencies for practical jokes, they do care about each other a lot, and Lym does not doubt her bodyguard's abilities to protect her life.

Lym dotes upon her brother perhaps more then she dotes on anyone else. She is always sad when he must leave on official business, and tromps through the halls looking for him the second she hears he has returned. When she finds him, she clings to him as if her life depended on it.

Lym is not thrilled with the prospect of the Sacred Games, because she doesn't even get to meet or have a say in the man she becomes engaged too, but she realizes she has to do it because she will become Queen. When she goes to at least see the list of contenders, she meets Salum Barows, whose son, Euram, is one of the men in the contest. When she doubts his swordplay ability, he responds that a gladiator will be fighting for him. It is a tradition dating back for a long time, but Lymsleia thinks Euram is a complete wimp, because, after all, her father won her mother's heart all by himself. After meeting him, both Lym and her brother immediately suspect that Salum is deceptive and cannot be trusted, his speech sounding extremely rehearsed.

Although Lym loves spending time with her brother, she does not let it detract from her duties. She always does her afternoon studies, because she wants to be as good a Queen as her mother. That doesn't stop her from seeing off her brother when he goes to Stormfist as the Queen's representative.

Lym is unused to seeing bloodshed and battle, and the sight of it at the Sacred Games does make her a little queasy, despite the fact that the Sacred Games's weapons do not use blades, and so, no one is seriously hurt. But Arshtat reminds Lym that the men down there are fighting for her, even if she didn't want them too. If war were to break out in the country, many men would die in her name. Her mother's speech, and her brother's encouragement leads Lym to conclude that she does not have to "get used" to violence and death, just accept that it will happen, and take measures to prevent it.

After Gizel Godwin wins the Princess's hand, Lym must go through her purification rite. Along with her brother and Aunt Sialeeds, she makes the trek to East Palace, to receive the blesssing of the Dawn Rune, and then to the holy shrine of Lunas, where she will be purified. During her stay at the East Palace, Lym meets Zerase, and is none too pleased with her attitude. Wanting to chase after and punish the woman, she is stopped when she realizes she must continue with her journey. She cannot be sidetracked by personal feelings.

In Lunas, Lym is purified with a cold-water bathing ritual. After Lun and Logg are captured, Lym agrees with Sialeeds's plan to return them to Raftfleet. During her night there, Lym, feeling very lonely, goes into her brother's room and sleeps in his bed. She realizes that she will soon be engaged and things won't be the same as they used to be. She also recalls how much she disdained her brother when he was younger, because he couldn't ascend to the throne. But despite that, her brother still loved her. Now, that she is older, she understands how bad of a little sister she was to him, and is happy that he forgave her. She always wants her big brother by her side.

During the engagement party, Lym is quite aware of the fact that the Godwins have fake smiles painted on. During the Godwin attack, Miakis and Galleon protect Lym from Nether Gate. However, two of the other Queen's Knights, Zahhak and Alenia prevent the Princess from escaping the palace.

After her failed attempt to escape, both Lym and Miakis are confined to the Princess's room, where she learns that her parents have died. Lym will not go to sleep, however, because she fears seeing her parents in her dream. If she sees them, she thinks she'll cry, and she can't shed any tears around the Godwins. Resolute but still saddened, she prays for her brother, who managed to escape, to rescue her.

Lym is brought one time to the Sun Rune, and, with the aid of Jeane, attempts to bear it to rain punishment on Gizel. However, it does not succeed. This upsets Lym, but she believes she and her brother will succeed without the True Rune, and returns to her room.

Lym is told by Gizel that she will soon need to be coronated officially as Queen. Lym refuses, because she knows the Godwins will only try to use her station to promote their own agendas. However, Gizel threatens her servants and Miakis, and Lym capitulates. Although Miakis tells her not to, Lym states that, from the day she was born, she was destined to become the Queen. She will not allow the people she serves as their ruler to suffer if she can prevent that.

After her coronation, Lym's attitude turns smarmy at the failure of Zahhak and Alenia to defeat the Prince. She wastes no time admonishing her husband for his failures as well. That's when Lym decides that she will end the war herself by riding into battle on the front lines. Although everyone else advises her not to, Lym states to them that as Queen, it is her duty to end the conflict as quickly as possible and bring peace to her people. No one else is bringing results, so she will do it herself.

Of course, that is Lym's official, stated reason. Truthfully, Lym rides out because she feels extremely useless at the Sun Palace by herself. If she rides out onto the battlefield, she is away from Gizel and his plans. She thinks her brother will learn she is riding out onto the field, and will rescue her by "kidnapping" her.

Lym's strategy is working perfectly, until an unexpected betrayal catches her. Sialeeds betrays the Prince and returns Lym to the Sun Palace. Lym is extremely angry with her aunt, telling her to go to hell. Knowing she won't get another chance to pull off a plan like that, especially with Sialeeds around.

Her brother does come charging to the rescue. He slays Gizel, and Lym embraces her brother for the first time in a long time. And, at the moment, Lym cries again.

Lym explains to her brother what Marscal Godwin, Gizel's father, did with the Sun Rune, and they determine what he is going to do with it, and he sets out to return it.

After the Sun Rune is returned and the war ends, Lym dissolves the Senate. The Senate caused so much turmoil in the reigns of Queens stretching back to Lym's great-grandmother. Although the Godwins and the Barows, the two major power players, were destroyed thanks to Freyjadour and Sialeeds, with the Senate still existing, another would just come and take their place. Instead of a Senate, Lym creates a parliament with elected representatives from the towns, giving the beavers and the cave dwarves a voice in government.

Lym, despite being a child, is extremely intelligent when it comes to politics and planning. She outwits her husband and the Queen's Knights several times, and knows what exactly the problems are with her country.

Indeed, despite occasional forays into arrogance (easily explained by her age) her twin virtues of wisdom and strength indicate that in time she may very well live up to her mothers legacy. A hidden cut scene that plays if the Prince should take Salum up on his offer of becoming King suggests that given time she may have well established her dominance over Gizel and ruled in her own right with him at her side.
