LVS-86
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
LVS-86 is a soviet-made six-axle tramcar. LVS denotes «Ленинградский Вагон Сочленённый», which means Leningrad-made articulated tram. The tram of this type was developed in 1986 (as its name implies) at the St Petersburg Tram manufacturing plant. Its design was based on the experimental articulated LVS-80 tramcar. LVS-86s were released at the St Petersburg Tram Manufacturing plant from 1987 until 1997 год; 473 trams of different modifications have been built altogether.
LVS-86 tramcars are working in St Petersburg now, as well as on a newly-enclosed tram system in Arkhangel'sk.
[edit] Technical specifications
LVS-86 is a wide gauge tram car (1524 mm or 60 inches); it is a high-floor continuously-metal one side, single ended 6-axle articulated tram. The body consists of two equal sections, bound by the articulation, which is supported on the central boogie. The doors are folding and consist of 4 segments, and are placed on the frontal suspension. On the majority of cars, the front segment leads directly into the driver's cab, and the doors are placed in the middle of the front and rear section, as well as on the rear suspension. There are 4 traction engines, two in the first, and two in the second boogie. The central boogie is not motorized. The system of motor control is indirect: rheostatic-contactor or thyristor-controlled. Основное the main braking is electrodynamic, made by the traction engines. Further braking is done by brake drums, pneumatically. Magnetic track brakes are also present. The tram has 27 seats and is capable of transporting 327 riders when fully loaded. LVS-86 dimensions are as follows: 22500 mm full length, 2550 mm full width, 3146 mm height; net weight while unloaded 29,5 тонн. The tram is capable of working in Multiple Unit Composition.
