Luxembourg are a British band who release their material through Dogbox Records. They are an indie five-piece consisting of David Shah (lead singer), Rob Britton (guitar), Alex Potterill (keyboards), Jon Bacon (bass) and Steve Brummell (drums). They have been likened to Pulp, The Smiths and Roxy Music and have been described as "pop noir".
They are technically unsigned but release their music from their own record label Dogbox Records. The Label recently tasted success with a compilation, "Blue Skies Up", featuring Luxembourg amongst other up and coming bands such as The Boyfriends.
Luxembourg released their debut album Front on in October 2006. Their debut single, "What The Housewives Don't Tell You", was released in mid-2004 and they finished the year with Best Kept Secret, a compilation featuring rarities and live performances from their first three years as a group. Following the single "Luxembourg Versus Great Britain", "What The Housewives Don't Tell You" and "Sick of DIY" they issued their debut album "Front" in October 2006.
On the 11th of december 2006, bassist Jon Bacon announced he would be leaving the band after their gig on the 16th of December. Cited reasons were a disliking of London, and the need to do something that earned more money.
Luxembourg have a devoted fanbase that spans from Ireland to Australia or even Hong Kong but have not yet been signed to a major label. John Earls of Planet Sound says, "the world will catch up eventually". Despite critical acclaim their music has yet to achieve widespread coverage.
