[edit] Appropriate Picture
The picture of Luton sums up the place well. Looking at it I am reminded of the tears we would shed as children, playing in the streets, when on the wind would drift the heady aroma of the nearby glue factory. --Dumbo1 00:03, 17 May 2005 (UTC)
- I'd say it was made with a pinhole camera in a shoebox, or some other piece of free equipment. You would never take a real camera to Luton, because of the constant street robberies. [1] Goatherd 10:25, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

- Or maybe it was grabbed from this BBC webcam: http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/content/webcams/stuart_street_webcam.shtml
Why the hell did Nv8200p pull the picture? It was better than nothing... Bjrobinson 11:56, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- The picture was deleted because it violated copyright - it was taken from the BBC webcam. That's against Wikipedia policy and so it wasn't better than nothing. Pdean 12:52, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
I have added some pictures which have the correct licenses for Wikipedia GazMan7 12:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Electrolux
From the article: Vauxhall Motors opened a car plant in the town in 1905, along with an Electrolux household appliances plant, followed by other light engineering businesses
This, together with the surrounding sentances, gives the impression that an Electrolux plant was founded in the beginning of the 20th century. However, Electrolux wasn't, according to the wikipedia article, formed until 1910 and probably, as it isn't a british company, didn't open up a plant in Britain for some years. Could it have been another company, currently owned by Electrolux? Gunnar Larsson 21:13, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Crap Towns
Having been born and bred there i have an affinity to the place, but i think the main reason ppl will come the page is because of its 'crap towns' status. Anyway, could we move the bit about crap towns to above the History just below the intro? I'm not taking the piss, it seems one of the most interesting things about the article, and makes the town unique... not many places can claim such an 'honour'. - This seems to have been completely deleted. For better or worse, I think a comment to the effect that it won Crap Towns II should probably get a mention on the page. As so often gets pointed out, Wikipedia is a source of information, not a promotional tool, for business or towns. Legis 09:32, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

- I have reverted the delete of the triva section with the Crap Towns item. If people want to edit it then ok, but i agree it probably should be mentioned. GazMan7 11:27, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Shameless Advertising
Unless anyone can come up with a good reason for keeping it in, I suggest the following sentance should be deleted:
"In 2006, a local independent travel agency called Double S Travel Worldchoice became the first Luton agency to be voted a finalist in five categories of the 2006 Travel Agent Achievement Awards 2006."
Wikipedia is not advertising space for small companies. Indisciplined 23:13, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Peer Review
I have nominated Luton for Peer review. The article has come on a long way recently, and is a lot better structured than it was, however some additonal input from people outside of Luton/Beds etc may well help improve it further.GazMan7 11:06, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re-write
Having read though the article today there are many disjointed facts stated. In places particularly the opening paragraphs this does not really flow terribly well. The intro probably should be cut with much of the info dropping down the article. GazMan7 16:33, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
