Luny Tunes are a Dominican reggaeton production duo composed of Francisco Saldaña (Luny) (born June 23, 1979) and Víctor Cabrera (Tunes) (born April 12, 1981) . Both members were born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in the Boston metropolitan area until they moved to Puerto Rico where their success started with the help of DJ Nelson as their executive producer and promoter. They are compared to the Neptunes due to their versatility with the music genre they produce and their ability to make #1 hits not only in reggaeton, but in other major charts. Many of today's hits in reggaeton were produced by Luny Tunes. Some examples are Tito El Bambino's "Caile," Daddy Yankee's"Gasolina," Wisin y Yandel's "Mirala Bien",Zion's "Alocate", and many more. Before their commercial success as reggaeton producers, they worked at Harvard University; Luny as a chef and Tunes as a dishwasher. Luny Tunes are also known for bringing up new producers in the genre such as Nely (El Arma Secreta), Tainy, Naldo and Nesty (La Mente Maestra). Luny Tunes still reside in Puerto Rico where they own a studio estimated to be worth around 1.5 million dollars.

[edit] Early career
After moving to Puerto Rico to produce music, they worked with Ivy Queen, one of the premiere female reggaeton artists, on her 2002 album Diva. It was one of the most prolific and progressive reggaeton albums of the year. They began producing for many reggaeton artists such as the now defunct duo Hector y Tito, Zion y Lennox, Daddy Yankee, Lito y Polaco, Karel y Voltio, Angel y Khriz, and many more. Their instrumentals and musical styles were creating a new standard in reggaeton in general.
After achieving success producing for various albums, they have decided to make an attempt to achieve commercial success with their own album, Mas Flow. Mas Flow was promoted by DJ Nelson who helped produced the album. Many of reggaeton's biggest names at the time were featured in Mas Flow, such as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel, Zion y Lennox, Hector y Tito, Tego Calderon, Khriz y Angel, Plan B, and others. The CD was a huge commercial success in Latin America and was one of the top Latin albums in the United States. They were becoming one of the leading producers of Latin music.
[edit] Mas Flow 2 and Beyond
After the release of Mas Flow, their popularity was increasing, and many artists outside the reggaeton genre wanted to collaborate with them. There was the Mexican pop band RBD, which were featured in their latest production, Los Benjamins, with the song "Lento". R&B stars R. Kelly and Frankie J have also collaborated with them with reggaeton remix of some of their greatest hits. As artists outside reggaeton wanted to collaborate with them, many reggaeton artists wanted to have the Luny Tunes sound in their music. This started the creation of the sequel to Mas Flow, with Mas Flow 2.
Mas Flow 2 was a joint venture with reggaeton artist Baby Ranks, as he was featured in virtually every song in the album. Many of reggaeton's biggest names were featured in the album, such as Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, Zion y Lennox, Tito El Bambino, Hector El Father, Julio Voltio, and many others. Mas Flow 2 was one of the most critically acclaimed Latin albums of the year, and was considered to be substantially more superior than the previous album. It featured some artists outside the reggaeton genre, such as Frankie J, Cultura Profetica, Tony Tun Tun, Sliff Star, among others.
