Lunchbox was the second single by "shock rockers" Marilyn Manson. The title track is taken from their debut album, Portrait of an American Family.
The titular single "Lunchbox" samples elements from the film Wild at Heart and from the song "Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. The "Highschool Drop-out" remix is simply a radio edit of the album version.
"Down in the Park" is a cover of 1979 Gary Numan/Tubeway Army track.
[edit] Plot
It tells the story of a school age child who is bullied and uses his lunchbox as a weapon in self defence, plotting his revenge. The lyrics also contain a reference to a piece of legislation dating back to 1972, which makes it illegal to have metal lunchboxes in schools. This makes the song ironic, considering that Manson was implied as a cause in the Columbine massacre.
