Lunar Dynasty

In Hindu society, the Kshatriya caste is divided into two principal houses, one claiming descent from the Sun (Surya) and the other from the Moon (Indu). This former is the Surya-vanshi (Solar Dynasty) while the latter is the Chandra-vanshi or Soma-vanshi (Lunar Dynasty). Legend says that these two celestial bodies yielded Kshatriyas to protect the world and its people after the world's existing Kshatriyas (fighters) were annihilated for greed, plundering, evil doings, war-mongering, lust and deceitful practices.
