Luis Bográn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luis Bográn was President of Honduras from 30 November 1883 to 30 November 1891. He was born in the state of Santa Barbara on 3 June 1849. President Bográn studied law at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala, and later pursued a career in the military, becoming a general years later. He became involved in politics early in his life, and soon became president Marco Aurelio Soto's protege. His two consecutive terms as president were prosperous. He is known as expanding and introducing research and investigation for Copan. As a strong supporter of Francisco Morazan's ideal, President Bográn was a unionist and attempted to bring about the unification of the five central American states. His agenda was defeated as the ultra-conservative power elites in these states successfully thwarted unification attempts.
