Luhring Augustine Gallery

Luhring Augustine Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in the Chelsea district, of New York City. The gallery features both contemporary art and shows of work that is historically relevant to the current contemporary art practice.
The gallery was founded in New York City's Soho district in 1985 by owners Lawrence Luhring and Roland Augustine. The gallery moved to Chelsea in 1997, in the forefront of the art wave fleeing an unfriendly Soho for the comparatively cheap rents in the warehousing section of Chelsea.
Some of the more important artist represented by the gallery are the video artist Pipilotti Rist, filmmaker/photographer Larry Clark, the photographer Gregory Crewdson and the painters Martin Kippenberger, Albert Oehlen. The artists in the gallery are all well known, often featured in world wide art shows such as the Venice Biennial. They have also shown work by such prominent figures as Donald Judd and Marcel Duchamp.
