Ludicra is a black metal band from San Francisco. Originally formed in 1998 as a quartet and later expanded to five members, they specialize in straight-ahead black metal (i.e., no gothic keyboards, pagan folk influences, or electronic leanings) in a style influenced by bands such as Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Dødheimsgard, and Bethlehem. The group includes current and former members of other local bands such as Impaled, Hammers of Misfortune, Tallow, Missile Command, Ominum, and Hickey. Ludicra play semi-regularly in the San Francisco area, where they have built up a strong reputation based on their intense live shows. They have shared the stage with a diverse ranging of bands including the death metal quartet Impaled, the post-hardcore/noise outfit Total Shutdown, and instrumental math metallers the Fucking Champs.
