Lucio Piccolo

Lucio Piccolo di Calanovella (October 27, 1901 - May 26, 1969), was an Italian poet.

Born in Palermo, Lucio Piccolo was first degree cousin to Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the latter author of The Leopard.
In 1954, aged age 50, he published a "plaquette" containing nine poetries which he mailed to Eugenio Montale. Montale, impressed by the high quality of Lucio Piccolo's poetry, invited him to partecipate to the San Pellegrino Literary Meeting. His works were published that years as Canti barocchi ("Baroque Chants").
He died at Capo d'Orlando in 1969.
