Luciana Mello

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luciana Mello (1979-) is a Brazilian singer and professional dancer.

Mello began her musical training early in life, taking voice and dance lessons. As a child, she sang in choirs and later performed in musicals. She emerged into the Brazilian pop music scene as a participant in the Artistas Reunidos (Reunited Artists) project, and her first solo CD in 2001, Assim Que Se Faz.

Her father is prominent Brazilian musician Jair Rodrigues, also a singer. Her brother, Jair Oliveira, is also an influential producer in the modern Brazilian pop music, and a singer/songwriter in his own right.

Her sound is a mix of the Música Popular Brasileira, soul and hip hop genres, representative of the Brazilian "black music" scene.

Her style has been likened to those of Paula Lima, Elza Soares and the j-pop Korean/African-American singer Crystal Kay.
