Luís Carlos Tóffoli

Luís Carlos Tóffoli, usually nicknamed Gaúcho (born on March 7, 1964 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul) is a former Brazilian football (soccer) center forward. He was noted for his heading ability.

He started his career in 1984, playing for Grêmio. In 1985, he was transferred to Atlético Goianiense. In 1986, he played for Flamengo. Gaúcho then played for Santo André in 1987 and 1988. From 1988 to 1991, he played for Palmeiras. In 1991, he returned to Flamengo, and left the club in 1994. In 1994, for the only time in his career, he played for a non-Brazilian team, Boca Juniors of Argentina. In 1995, when he was 31 years old, he retired from football.

On November 17, 1988, playing for Palmeiras, during a Campeonato Brasileiro Série A match against Flamengo, after goalkeeper Zetti got injured, he replaced him in that position. During the penalty shootout, after the match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time, he saved two Flamengo penalties, and Palmeiras won 5-4.

In 1991, playing for Flamengo, he was the top goalscorer of Campeonato Carioca, with 17 goals [1].

During his career, he won two titles, the Campeonato Carioca, in 1991, and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, in 1992, both with Flamengo.

[edit] Cuiabá Esporte Clube

In 2001, he founded a football club called Cuiabá Esporte Clube. He was the club's first president. Cuiabá EC won the Mato Grosso state championship two times, in 2003 and in 2004 [2].
