Loyal to the Game is an album containing previously unreleased music recorded by Tupac Shakur before his death in 1996. Released in the US on December 14, 2004 (December 12 in the UK) Loyal to the Game produced by Eminem, and is consequently very reminiscent of Eminem's style.
According to an interview with MTV, Eminem was so moved by Tupac's life and work that he wrote a letter to Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, asking her to consider letting him produce the album. She agreed, and gave the go ahead for artists from Eminem's Shady Records, such as 50 Cent, G-Unit and Obie Trice to appear on the album, as well as popular British artists Dido and Elton John. The album featured two singles- "Thugs Get Lonely Too" and "Ghetto Gospel".
Eminem used various unusual production techniques during the creation of this album, namely modifying the pace and pitch of Tupac's voice to better suit the beats produced. There has also been cutting and pasting of vocals to produce new words now synonymous with current rap culture. Many fans were angry over this and maintain that this has distorted Tupac's voice and messages in such a way that the album should not be officially recognized. [1]
This is Tupac's eighth posthumous release, but it will not be his last, as there are plans for at least one more album which will be released in November, 2006. The first single was supposed to be released on Sept. 13th, 2006, the 10 year anniversary of his death, but fell through. Instead, the first single was released October 5, 2006 and the second single was released October 10, 2006.
