Lower Brandon Plantation (or simply Brandon Plantation), on the James River in present-day Prince George County, Virginia, was owned by the Harrison family from 1700-1926. It was originally bought by Benjamin Harrison II, who lived from 1645-1712. It was then passed to his son Nathaniel Harrison, 1677-1727. After Nathaniel's premature death in 1727 it went into the hands of his son Nathaniel Harrison II, 1703-1791. Sometime before his death in 1791, Brandon came under the possesion of Revolutionary War Col. Benjamin Harrison, 1743-1807.
Benjamin Harrison married three times. The first marriage was to Anne Randolph. After her premature death, he married Lucy Carter Fitzhugh. She also didnt live very long. The third marriage is the only one to have produced children. That was to Evelyn Taylor Byrd of Westover. Their four children were:
- George Evelyn Harrison (1797-1839)
- William Byrd Harrison (1800-1870)
- Anne Harrison (1802-1842)
- Elizabeth Page Harrison (1804-1836)
All but Ann Harrison are buried at Brandon in the family graveyard. Ann Harrison is buried in Winchester with the Byrd family.
