Low End Specialists

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Low End Specialists is New York City-based house music DJ/producer duo of Mac Clark and Ali Geramian. Low End Specialists have produced and remixed records for many labels such as Virgin, EMI, Astralwerks, Sanctuary Records, Yoshitoshi, Little Mountain Recordings, and Bedrock. They have remixed artists from many styles of music including Janet Jackson, William Orbit, Conjure One, Steve Lawler, and Danny Tenaglia.

Geramian and Clark met in 1999 in New York City at a meeting of mutual friends. They were both influenced by New York DJs Danny Tenaglia and Junior Vasquez. The duo's first popular production was a remix of tribal house classic "So Get Up" by Underground Sound of Lisbon on Kaos Records. Both this and their first single "Smoked Piece" were well received by DJs including Pete Tong, Deep Dish, and Sasha & Digweed. Later in 2002, Low End Specialists accepted a major residency at Centro-Fly, which had previously been home to DJs such as Roger Sanchez and The Chemical Brothers. Due to Low End Specialists and guest appearances by other popular DJs, Centro-Fly was nominated for "Club of the Year" awards by both Dance Star and BPM Magazine in 2003.

After releasing several records and had a successful residency under their belts, Low End Specialists toured internationally at discotheques around the world. After enjoying the commercial success of their remix of Janet Jackson's "All Nite (Don't Stop)", they achieved similar success with remixes of tracks by Juliet's "Avalon" and "Ride the Pain". They have since remixed the Gorillaz single DARE for Virgin and Conjure One's "Extraordinary Way" for Nettwerk. The release of their last single "Power Station" as 45 Hz on Toolroom Records received support from John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo. They are currently remixing Juliet's third single "On The Dancefloor" and have been asked to produce tracks for Puff Daddy's electronic album.
