Lovells, formerly known as Lovell White Durrant, is a international law firm with over 250 partners and in total around 1,200 lawyers in 26 offices around the world. It is the 5th largest and most profitable law firm in Europe and the 8th largest law firm in the world.
The firm has a strong presence in every major European jurisdiction, offering a wide range of legal advisory expertise to its clients. In the United States, the firm’s New York and Chicago offices have flourished thanks to its market-leading expertise in insurance and reinsurance and the development of its banking, capital markets and restructuring practices. In Asia, with the emergence of China as a global business player, the firm has developed capabilities in Beijing and Shanghai, complementing its well-established offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore. The firm advises many of the world’s largest corporations, financial institutions and governmental organisations. It regularly acts on complex, international transactions, as well as some of the most high-profile commercial disputes.
The firm's client list includes ALSTOM, Barclays, Credit Suisse First Boston, DZ Bank, the European Commission, and Société Générale.
Lovells, which can trace its history in the United Kingdom back to 1899, has gone through a number of international mergers, most notably with Germany-based Boesebeck Droste in 2000.
