Lovegety is a wireless-enabled, spontaneous matchmaking service that originated in Japan in 1998, see CNN article on LoveGety, Wired article. Users enter their profile of interests into the device and when the device, with a limited wireless communications range, discovers a user with a "matching" profile, LoveGety notifies the user that their matched partner is nearby. Notification is done via device vibration. LoveGety was the inspiration for countless bluetooth-enabled matchmaking services for mobile phones, see Bluedating.
