Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop) is the title of a number-one R&B single by singer Erykah Badu and rapper Common, it spent four weeks at number-one on the US R&B chart. The song also won a Soul Train Lady of Soul Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Solo.The song also won in 2003 Grammys for best r&b song.[1]. The song was featured in the 2002 film Brown Sugar. The song, the film, and the Common song I Used to Love H.E.R. all share a number of similar tones and themes. All three deal with the personification of Hip hop, and treating Hip hop as a person that one has a relationship with, through good times and bad, as Hip hop develops and changes with age.
