Love Will Save the Day (2005 song)

Love Will Save the Day is a 2004 audio recording by English-born musician David Usher that was released as a single in 2005 as Track #2 on the album If God Had Curves. It is widely considered to be a homage to humanism. In both the radio and album versions, a sample from Gloria Steinem's 1971 speech "Address To The Women of America" can be heard, saying "It really is a revolution" at the beginning of the track, as well as "We are talking about a society which there will be no roles other than those chosen or those earned, they're really talking about humanism" toward the end. In other versions, these quotes are excluded and there is no exclusive affiliation with humanism.

Humanism, the way of life observed by David Usher[1], is defined not by atheism nor theism. It is generally neutral on the subject or can co-exist with either some degree of religion or secularity. In Love Will Save The Day, the second verse is suspected to mock:

• Religion—"Come on sell me more of your religion, 'cause it's sure to make a change .. Last night God was on the TV screen, taking dollars for their pain [2]
• Darwinism/Evolution—"Come on talk about that evolution, it's been poisoning my mind[3].

It has been speculated that the line "Last night God was on the TV screen" was meant to be interpreted as "And then that guy was on the TV screen" for the alternate version, whereas the humanism-related quotes by Steinem were also omitted.
