Love Potion 976/J

"Love Potion 976/J" is the title of the 27th episode (and Valentine's Day special) of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. It aired on February 13, 2004 in the US.

Jimmy, Carl and Sheen are all completely disgusted by love, so they head to the lab. Jimmy has created a vaccine for hormones that contains its concentrated essence, but it must be handled carefully, because in its pure form one whiff could render the person to fall in love with the first person of the opposite gender that they see. Carl wants to check his e-mail on Jimmy's computer for his "Cheese of the Month" Club's next issue and piece of cheese. Carl accidentally uses the wrong computer, thus causing the vaccine to escape from a vent, and the boys all smell the potion. Then, Sheen and Jimmy head to his front yard where they spot Cindy and Libby. As Cindy begins her usual name calling, Jimmy attempts to retaliate when he sees her face and immediately becomes infatuated with her, making weird "Hummanah Hummanah Hummanah" sounds as he looks at her. Sheen then looks at Libby, resulting in him seeing her as a queen in UltraLord-esque-type clothing. Carl sees Jimmy's Mom later on and falls in Love. Jimmy ends up flying around the streets of Retroville where he tries to convince himself that he does not love Cindy. But when the Police stop him, he sees then man's face as Cindy's face, winking. Same with a beach billboard that he sees. Having realized he loves her, he finds her at the Candy bar to proclaim(loudly) that he loves her. He is kicked out by Sam and the other kids there. Meanwhile, Sheen makes a throne for Libby out of Ultra-Lord boxes and gives her "Melty face", who was his first action figure. But his face is deformed due to a "horrible Steam Iron accident". Carl also comes to a picnic that Judy had for Hugh, and he gives her a card with his shirt and suspenders off. Hugh is attacked by a monkey that Carl sent, but later asks her to be his valentine, and she says yes. Jimmy then walking home, sadly, sees Cindy running toward him. She wants to know what's going on, and they plan a date, where Jimmy rejoices in her accepting. He then realizes the mistake he made, screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" out into the sky. He cleans up his lab with a hologram and different clothes and Cindy comes over. Sheen wants Libby as a sparring partner later, but she says things are going too fast. But then Libby kisses him on the cheek and tells him that they will go steady. Meanwhile, Jimmy is nervous on his date and Cindy notices. He gives her a card and then they are about to kiss, when..... Cindy's arm pulls a lever and he notices that the vent is open to his Vaccine chamber. He realizes the boys were struck with it and comes up with a plan. He has one of his trademark "Brain Blasts" and uses Carl's "Cheese of the month" gouda feta to block their sense of smell and make them all back to normal. But Sheen is still shown to like Libby in that he dances when he sees that she still has Meltface in her schoolbooks, regardless that she was just making fun of them.

• On the blackboard, a note can be seen that reads "Long division next week... be scared!"
• Carl's cheese of the month offers cheese such as lobster-jack, swiss-mocha, trophy log, yellow surprise, pan-American, queso-supremo, and fromage Fantastique.
• Jimmy's hair is parted in this episode. When he looks at Cindy and falls in love, her hair is in a bun. Their hair styles would be the same in the episode, Lady Sings the News.
• Apparently, Jimmy has his own web browser that looks like a mix between Internet Explorer and Safari.
• The clock on the computer reads 8:15 PM. This is impossible though or Jimmy could've set his clock wrong. If it was 8:15 in February, it would be dark outside, but it isn't. ^{[citation needed]}
• The hovercar can fly, yet Jimmy drove his rocket to look for Cindy.
• Jimmy reaches for the door of the lab, but there isn't a doorknob.
• Jimmy appears to be able to brew his own Purple Flurp. It was dispensed from the machine in the movie he used to make burping soda.
• Jimmy's valentine card has a seal similar to the back of a quarter, but instead of an eagle, there's a heart.
• The Ultralord action figures are faced towards Sheen when he bangs the gong.
• This is the only episode where Sheen and Libby kiss.
• When Jimmy is lying on the grass, his hair doesn't have the pudding shape.
• The statues seen in Jimmy's hologram look like the ones that Sheen made into a floating chair in Sheen's Brain.
• Even though the boys were able to dull the pheromone, it never completely wore off. All three boys are still in love in later episodes.
• When Jimmy makes his date with Cindy, he says at two o'clock tomorrow. Yet, when he's on the date, Cindy says "Now about this afternoon..."
• The Jimmy/Cindy love theme is used again in Win, lose, Kaboom for "Low-gravity Snuggling from Venus". This could be a foreshadowing of things to come.
• When Jimmy wants to give the lab a nice hologram and himself a nice change of clothes, he asks VOX to run program, "Hef", a nod to Playboy owner, Hugh Hefner. Jimmy even wears a robe, much like Hefner does.
