[edit] Trivia

  • The episode title is in reference to the popular phrase Love Hurts, as well as the Cher song by the same name.
  • This is the first time we see a Darklighter.
  • The Darklighter power of Touch of Death is later used by demons in the series.
  • Piper accesses Leo's Whitelighter ability in this episode to heal him, telling him for the first time that she loves him.
  • We learn that Phoebe's high school nickname was Freebie. In the episode Hyde School Reunion, we learn that the person she made out with under the bleachers to earn this nickname was fellow classmate Todd Marks.
  • This is the episode when Piper first finds out that Leo is a whitelighter as opposed to Phoebe who finds out in Secrets and Guys.
  • Piper states several times that Leo was dead before she healed him. However, we discover in subsequent episodes that whitelighters cannot heal the dead. It is plausible that, since whitelighters are techniqually already dead, they can be revived. It also may be the case that Piper was mistaken.
  • The song Human by The Pretenders plays during the opening sequence, while Prue is searching for things to help Leo.
