The song was released on November 2, 1992 worldwide. "Love Can Move Mountains" was the fourth single from Celine Dion in U.S., Canada and Japan, and the third in the rest of the world.

It was written by Diane Warren. The track was produced by Ric Wake.

B-side included unreleased track called "Cry Just a Little" - a cover of E. G. Daily's 1989 song. It's the second cover of E. G. Daily that Céline recorded (in 1987 she did a French adaptation of "Love in the Shadows," named "Délivre-Moi").

"Love Can Move Mountains" was remixed by Tommy Musto (Tommy Musto's 7" Edit, Club Mix, Underground Vocal Mix, Underground Instrumental, Club Dub, Underground Dub), 1 by Ric Wake & Richie Jones (Wake & Jones Dub), and 1 by Daniel Abraham (Daniel Abraham's 7" Edit).

"Love Can Move Mountains" (Club Mix) won the Juno Award for Best Dance Recording in 1993.

The music video was made for the Daniel Abraham's 7" Edit, by director Jeb Brian and was released in November 1992. It appeared on Céline's DVD video collection All the Way... A Decade of Song and Video (2001).

The single was included also on Céline's greatest hits album All the Way... A Decade of Song, released in 1999.

A live version of "Love Can Move Mountains" can be found on 1994 À l'Olympia CD. Dion sings this song also five nights a week in her show, A New Day..., at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.

Dion re-recorded "Love Can Move Mountains," with gospel group God's Property, in 1998 for the soundtrack of the popular CBS-TV drama Touched by an Angel. She also appeared as herself on one episode of the series, titled "Psalm 151," and performed the song.

"Love Can Move Mountains" was a hit on the club charts in America, reaching #3 on Billboard Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales and #5 on Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play. It was Dion's debut on these charts. The single hit also top 10 in Canada (#8) and reached #36 on Billboard Hot 100 in U.S. It enjoyed a moderate success in the rest of the world.
