[edit] Synopsis

When Paige's latest temp job puts her in the middle of an ongoing feud between two magical families, the Montanas and the Callaways, she falls for Richard Montana and urges both families to consider a truce. Paige, Phoebe and Piper hold a séance with both families and everyone is stunned to learn that Richard's first love, Olivia Callaway, is now a ghost and has been escalating the feud to avenge her death. Paige becomes possessed by Olivia's spirit, and Phoebe and Piper must banish Olivia in order to save Paige and the two families. Meanwhile, Leo is suspicious when Chris travels to the Underworld in search of a potion.

[edit] Trivia

  • The episode title is a play on words to the phrase Love's a bitch.
  • The WB Used the promontianal title "The Seance" for this episode.
  • This is the first appearance of actor Balthazar Getty as Richard Montana.
  • Annoyed at Phoebe constantly reading their emotions with her new empathic power, Piper, Paige and Chris swallowed a potion that blocked their emotions from Phoebe in this episode. Chris also had other reasons to hide his thoughts/emotions.
  • Richard said that you can't curse someone who doesn't practice magic, but there have been many times where innocents have been cursed.
  • The restaurant Anthony's is the same building used earlier in the series for the Quake restaurant, which is where Piper worked as a chef before buying P3.
  • This is the first time we see witches creating Energy Balls. Previous to this episode only demons could create them, although the two families do not necessarily practice good magic or the Wiccan reed all the time because of the feud, and they have concocted several war potions.
  • The To Banish a Spirit potion was first mentioned in the episode Reckless Abandon.
  • The idea of the witch family feud between the Montanas and the Callaways was based on the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud, as well as the tragedy Romeo and Juliet, in which the feuding families have similar names (Montegue and Capulet) to the families in this episode.

[edit] International titles

  • French: Vengeance d'outre-tombe
  • German: Tödliche Liebe
