The Lourdes School of Quezon City is a private, Catholic educational institution owned and founded by the Order of Friars Minor, Capuchins in Metro Manila, the Philippines. The school is also known by the acronym LSQC, which differentiates it from the Lourdes School of Mandaluyong (LSM), its sister school.

The school is located just beside the Our Lady of Lourdes Church, more formally known as the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes.

LSQC is named after and devoted to the Our Lady of Lourdes, and has St. Francis of Assisi as its patron saint.

[edit] School Program

The Lourdes School of Quezon City provides four levels of education: High school, Grade school, Preparatory school, and Kindergarten. In the past the LSQC was an exclusive school for boys on all levels; however, in the late 90's the high school department has become coed.

Students who cannot afford the tuition fee (currently at Php 45,000 - 50,000) can avail of the Financial Assistance Program (FAP) of the school that offers study grants to children with good academic grades coming from low-income families.

The school has distinguished itself in various curricular competitions throughout the metropolis and the country, having won championship (in 1999) and runner-up (in 1998) honors in the now-defunct Battle of the Brains quiz show of RPN-9, as well as various press conferences and math olympiads. In 1998, the LSQC team, comprised of Kenneth Gallo, Phillip Kimpo, Christopher Ruiz, and Juan Paolo Samontañez, also reached the national semifinals of the Discovery Channel Whiz Quiz.

[edit] School Hymn

The present hymn of the Lourdes School of Quezon City, Lourdes Forever, is the revised version of the original song. The original hymn's lyrics were written by Miguel Peñera, while the music was composed by Prof. Antonio Molina.

[edit] School Motto

The Lourdes School of Quezon City uses the Franciscan greeting Pax et Bonum, which is Latin for "Peace and All Good". The latter is a rough translation, albeit the one formally used by the school. Pax means "peace" or "shalom" in English, while Bonum means "good".
