[edit] Franchise history

The Louisville Bulls organization was founded in 1988. The organization's goal was to provide a positive atmosphere for young men to develop their athletic skills, a professional image, and a winning attitude. In 1988 the team consisted of 30 inexperienced pioneers of minor professional football. For two seasons the Bulls played an independent schedule, with moderate success. In 1990 the Bulls joined the now defunct Hearts of Ohio Football League (HOFL). In their second HOFL season the Bulls finished 9-3 and captured the HOFL title.

The Bulls joined the fledgling Mid Continental Football League (MCFL) in 1992. The team suffered through two mediocre seasons, but then had 3 straight playoff berths from 1994-1996. The team seemed headed towards prosperity, however the retirement of several key players combined with the increased talent level of the improving MCFL led to several disappointing seasons.

The Bulls endured three losing seasons before earning another playoff berth in 2000. The team lost in the first round of the MCFL playoffs, but continued the improvement into the next season.
