Louisiana Highway 46 (LA 46) is a state highway that serves both New Orleans, Louisiana and neighboring St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. It spans 29.19 miles. In New Orleans, it is commonly referred to as St. Claude Avenue, while in St. Bernard Parish, it is labelled as St. Bernard Highway.
[edit] Route description
LA 46 begins at an intersection with LA 39/North Claiborne Avenue, and then spans eastward parallel to the Mississippi River. It crosses the Industrial Canal via the St. Claude Avenue Bridge and runs through the city's Lower 9th Ward. At the Orleans Parish/St. Bernard Parish line, LA 46 becomes St. Bernard Highway and parallels both the Mississippi River and LA 39/Judge Perez Drive. Like LA 39, LA 46 serves the towns of Arabi, Chalmette, Meraux, Violet, and Poydras. LA 46 and LA 39 then merge near Poydras and LA 46 runs due east until separating from LA 39. From there, LA 46 ends at a dead end at the Gulf Outlet Channel.
