Louisiana Derby

The Louisiana Derby is a race for thoroughbred horses run at the Fair Grounds Race Course each year. The race is open to horses, age three, willing to race one and one-sixteenth miles on the dirt. A Grade II, it offers a purse of $600,000.

Black Gold, winner of the Kentucky Derby, won this race in 1924.
