Louis Benito Middle School

Louis Benito Middle School was opened in 1997 on Cross Creek Boulevard in Tampa, Florida. It was the first middle school built in New Tampa. The school is named in honor of Louis Benito, who was an advertising agency owner. Louis Benito was the son of Cuban immigrants who settled in Ybor City, East of Tampa, Florida. Benito was a successful business man, a community activist and above all, a devoted family man. Mr.Benito was named "Citizen of the Year" in 1980.

Mr. Bobby Smith is the principal of the school. Roughly 20% of the school's students are of Latino or Hispanic descent, 25% are African American, 45% are Caucasian race, and 5% of are Asian. Most students live near the school. The remainder of the students live in the neighborhood near the University of South Florida or have chosen the school through the CHOICE program.

Louis Benito Middle School will provide to all students the quality educational experience necessary to reach their highest potential.
