Lou Reed is Lou Reed's debut solo album in 1972, released two years after he left The Velvet Underground. The album is mostly made up of re-recorded Velvet Underground leftovers (all except "Going Down" and "Berlin"). With interest in the Velvet Underground gaining, Reed's debut album was highly anticipated but the result was a commercial and critical disappointment.[citation needed]
