Lou Leabengula Myers, born September 26, 1945, in Cabin Creek, West Virginia, is an American actor. Mr. Myers is typically typecast as a grumpy old man, but he has appeared in many movies, stage plays, television sitcoms, and dramas. He got his first break as an understudy in the Broadway play, The First Breeze of Summer as Reverend Mosley. He is probably best known as the feisty Mr. Vernon Gaines in the sitcom A Different World.

Mr. Myers has appeared in Team Player (2004), Nobody Knows Anything! (2003), The Fighting Temptations (2003), All About You (2001), The Wedding Planner (2001), Everything's Jake (2000), The Big Confession (1999), The Stand-In (1999), Mama Flora's Family (1998), How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998), Goodbye Lover (1998), Bulworth (1998), Volcano (1997), Tin Cup (1996), and The Passion of Darkly Noon (1995).

Mr. Myers has won an NAACP Image Award for his role as the Stool Pigeon in the stage play, King Headley. He has also won the Off-Broadway Audelco Award for his role in the play, Fat Tuesday.

In 2005 the Appalachian Education Initiative listed Mr. Myers as one of 50 "Oustanding Creative Artists" from the State of West Virginia and featured him in their coffeetable book "Art & Soul".
