Loton Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Loton Park is a country house estate, near Alberbury, Shrewsbury in Shropshire, on the upper reaches of the River Severn, currently the home of Sir Michael Leighton, 11th Baronet.
The estate is mentioned in the Domesday Book and the present house dates from the 14th century, though the ruins of an earlier castle, built in 1340, survive in the grounds.
The 400 acres of parkland includes one of the two privately owned deer parks to remain in Shropshire, and is notable for its population of red kites.
It is also prominent in motorsport as the location of the Loton Park Hill Climb.
