Los Super Elegantes are a musical group formed out of Los Angeles. Their sound has been described as a blend of punk, rock, mariachi, trip hop and pop.

[edit] Biography

The group is comprised of two members. Milena Muzquiz and Martiniano Lopez-Crozet, from Tijuana, Mexico and Buenos Aires, Argentina respectively, founded the group in 1995. They have mixed original music with theatrical stage improvisations in amusing live performances. Featured in Index, Interview, ArtForum and the Fader, their 2002 album Channelizing Paradise was praised for its quirky, entertaining riffs. In 2004, they performed as part of the Whitney Biennial in New York City and in the Frieze Art Fair in London.

Los Super Elegantes have played with Beck, performed a version of Nirvana's "Rape Me" in French, DJed throughout Europe and the Americas, and have received significant airplay on several American indie radio stations.

In December 2006, the band's song "Sixteen" was featured on the American iTunes store as a single of the week and was offered as a free download.

The band is currently working on a new album that will be released in 2007.
