The Los Peñasquitos Creek Arch Bridge was completed in 1949. It is a reinforced concrete open-spandrel arch-bridge with an overall length of 434 feet, and an arch span of 220 feet.
The current Los Peñasquitos Creek bridge was first built in 1966 as the southbound lanes of the U.S. Highway 395 freeway. The original Los Peñasquitos Creek bridge stayed in use as the northbound lanes.
The current bridge is a prestressed concrete girder bridge, and was completely replaced by widening of the Interstate 15 freeway traffic in 1976. The original bridge served as the service road and bikepath. In 1986, the current bridge was renamed the Cara Knott Memorial Bridge.
