Los Cerritos Middle School is a public school located in California. It is part of the Conejo Valley Unified School District and is located in Thousand Oaks, California. The principal of this school is Dr. Eleanor Love. Originally, the school's mascot was the Los Cerritos Matadors, but for political correctness, it was changed to the Los Cerritos Leopards after the late 90s. Los Cerritos Middle School has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for the last several years. The school's motto is "Together, We Make a Difference." Los Cerritos, its name originating from the Spanish language, is translated into "The Hills."
Serving grades six through eight, Los Cerritos teaches a plethora of subjects. They are comprised of: English, English as a second language, science, health, physical science, social science, computer science, wood shop, computers, art, jazz band, beginning band, intermediate band, advanced band, percussion ensemble, beginning orchestra, advanced orchestra, physical education, ASB, journalism, Spanish, PSST (Peer Student Support Team), and student congress and debate team.
Los Cerritos participates in the annual "We The People" competition against the major middle schools in the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD): Colina Middle School, Redwood Middle School, and Sequoia Middle School. It also holds a 5 KM run every year, where students of qualifying times participate against one another for rankings. Los Cerritos also offers a variety of multiple lunchtime activities, ranging from sports and music on the outdoor stage, to COTY event activities that take place on the outdoor stage. Tennis balls, handballs, footballs, and basketballs are distributed during lunch to students who hold their I.D. card, and the library is opened daily to all students.
