[edit] Protection of Article
MONGO, since you're not the closing admin of the AfD - who deleted the article but didn't salt it and noted it could possibly be fixed - can you point out where you discussed and came to the decision to protect the page from recreation? Thanks. *Sparkhead 14:34, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- It should have been protected from recreation when it was deleted. There is more at stake than having an article about everyone and everthing [1]--MONGO 11:33, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Whether it should have been protected or not, that wasn't the decision of the closing admin of the AfD. You participated in the AfD, and per Wikipedia:Protection_policy#How (item 2 in particular): Admins should not protect pages in which they are involved. You seem to be overriding the closing admin's decision, as well as violating protection policy. I'd think you might get a consensus among admins for such an action, but unilateral action on your part seems inconsistent with administrative policy. I'd like to see the procedural basis for which you've taken this action. Thanks. *Sparkhead 11:49, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

- Basically the answer I was expecting. Thanks for confirming. It's a superficial action at best, as someone can, and probably will, create a article with a non-bio title. *Sparkhead 12:13, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, no doubt some politically motivated POV pusher will wish to misuse Wikipedia to promote their agenda, and unfortunately both the lefties and the righties all do this far too often...the only difference between me protecting it and having it not protected, is that it ensures that, hopefully, only an admin, who has been voted by his/her peers to perform admin tasks by consensus based on the belief that they do the best thing overall for Wikipedia, will be the one to "restart" this article, rather than having someone who hasnot been endorsed by the community to come along and unilaterally recreate an article that was deleted based on sound arguments in favor of deletion.--MONGO 12:23, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
