Talk:Lorenz attractor
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The three coupled differential equations model convection rolls in the atmosphere. Do the three variables x, y, and z describe the position of a small cell of air? If not, then to what physical attribute do they apply?
[edit] Plain English
"is a non-linear three-dimensional deterministic dynamical system derived from the simplified equations of convection rolls arising in the dynamical equations of the atmosphere" means nothing to anybody but the already educated. This is not a suitable explanation of what the Lorenz attractor is. We need to remove such technical barriers to Wikipedia entries. - very good point. Have tried to make some improvements, especially to that horrendous opening. -- GWO
[edit] Referencing
The article improved significantly since the last time I've read it (about 6 months ago) and some interesting facts were added. However now it lacks references. Specifically:
- 2001 Tucker work
- applications in lasers and dynamos (I found only info about the waterwheel at [1])
