Missions
Thanks for your quick response re the California Missions - my question is more 'Is the page California Missions specifically about missions in the US State, or is it about missions in the geographic area of California?' I would assume the latter, since the former is not really that relevant to the establishment of the missions, except that the article deals exclusively with the US ones. I am trying to write a little on two missions that I have visited recently (Misión Santa Rosalía de Mulegé and Misión San Javier, and want to know which articles to link them into. Thanks again, Moomintrollmania 02:40, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
OK - what would you say is the right term for the totality of the Spanish missions in the geographical region of California? I guess I would ultimately see some sort of top level page on Spanish missions in general, perhaps breaking into pages on the Jesuit and Fransciscan initiated missions? I am particularly interested in the ones on the peninsular, in the Jesuit period (sort of 1697-1767). I think that there are 20 missions in this group, plus a load more in the mainland. What do you think would be a good top level page to explain this? Moomintrollmania 06:29, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
- Been pretty busy - as soon as I get a moment I'll try to do that, one issue is that many of them are not really anywhere near a town, we could put the nearest town in though. Thanks for the help, Moomintrollmania 03:33, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
Erm, actually, can you help me out - you've renamed my list, giving the missions what looks like their proper names - I think that in the process you have re-ordered them. Either that, or we are using conflicting maps. Can you let me know how your names map onto my old ones please? It would save me time. Thanks, Moomintrollmania 06:17, 14 May 2005 (UTC)
Good one
excellent, excellent user name. Mgw 17:05, May 15, 2005 (UTC)
Gustavus Franklin Swift
Hi
Nice work on Gustavus Franklin Swift! ✏ OvenFresh² 18:09, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
Having spent a great deal of time exhaustively** copy-editing this article and bringing it into line with Wikipedia style (as well as improving the general style — removing unnecessary scare quotes and bolding of names, etc.), I was more than a little surprised to discover that you'd undone a great deal of my work, with no explanation. If you disagree with my edits, could you explain on the Talk page? You seem to have added other material too, but I'm afraid that the thought of going through the whole article carefully re-doing the work that I've already done was more than I could face, so I've simply reverted to my version. If you want to add the new information, that's fine, but please discuss other changes. Mel Etitis (User talk:Mel Etitis) 20:01, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I've restored the text additions you deleted without overwriting your previous copy edits; my pastes were done from an offline copy of the article. One thing I did fix was the location of the "hereford" image so that it no longer breaks into the section title. In the future, please do not delete content from articles without prior discussion; it took a fair amount of research to develop the original stub article into something of reasonable depth and factual accuracy, and to expand it meaningfully as well. We all have the same goal here.

- I'm bemused. You simply replaced the article with one you'd edited off-line, ignoring and overwriting intervening edits, and then you reprimand me for removing your new material when I undo your action?
- Please don't do this again. Improving articles certainly is what we're here for, in collaboration. Ignoring other editors' work doesn't count as collaboration, and erasing their corrections doesn't count as improvement (nor does wiping out valuable research for the sake of removing a few quotation marks!)-LK. Re: California Mission Clash of Cultures
Hey Lordkinbote,
Thanks for catching that - I should've been paying closer attention. I don't know where the weird encoding stuff came from... it was only supposed to modify Todays. Nadavspi | talk 02:12, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Gallery view on Santa Fe page
Following on your suggestion, I've updated the Santa Fe page to use the Gallery view as well for the paint schemes section. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the thumbnails are small and the tag doesn't provide any means for resizing them. I've read that the wiki developers are working on this, however. I've also updated a few links to bypass redirects and point to more appropriate articles.
In updating this section, I noticed that we've got a warbonnet photo, but no descriptive paragraph for it. I haven't added that yet, but we need to mention its development and use on high-priority freights like the Z trains between LA and Chicago. Are you preparing text for the remaining sections about the paint schemes? I'm putting together more information on the history of the railroad to flesh out the stubbed section headers there; I just haven't uploaded anything beyond the rough outline that's there now.

"Along Your Way"
Nice find on the link! I was working off a copy in my personal collection, but now everyone has a chance to see more from it. slambo 13:39, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
Commons for PD images
Hi. Thanks for uploading Image:EdgecumbeSitka.jpg. May I suggest that you upload public domain images to Commons so that they can be easily re-used by other language wikis? There is no difference in the way the images can be linked to in articles as the software also checks Commons for images. RedWolf 18:31, August 13, 2005 (UTC)

History of Alaska
Thanks for your recent edit (foreign invasion of U.S. soil) here. You hit the nail on the head and beat me to an almost identical edit. Cheers! -- Dave C.talk | Esperanza 01:07, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
Sitka
Hey! I'm sorry my pages are so riddled with errors, you'll have to excuse me for my lack of know-how -- I'm still trying to get the hang of the wiki process. Do you live in Sitka or are a freuqent visitor? Jarfingle talk September 14th 2005
Edit summary question
In the edit summary box how do you create the little arrow that links to the section? Sorry for the question but I must admit I've been jealously looking at your edit summaries for the last few days! Jarfingle 10:45, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
Battle of Sitka
EXCELLENT Job on the additions to the Battle of Sitka page! Good information. Jeremy Bentham 18:16, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
{{Infobox_Biography}}
Thanks for your reply. ... As for editing it while it's in TFD, normally I would not but since multple people yelled at me to fix it, I did. As for penis/breast size, eh, it's a field in the most widely accepted general biographical infobox I could find, though I agree that it's a little weird. I'd support leaving it out, but it is a stat which applies to everyone. --Gmaxwell 04:28, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
Protected Areas Infobox
I noticed that you recently put a Protected Areas Infobox on Sitka NHP. There has been some discussion on whether or not to make modifications to the infobox. You are welcome to contribute to the debate. Just go to: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Protected areas and then jump to discussion topic #13. — Eoghanacht talk 21:07, 5 October 2005 (UTC)
Image deletions
I have taken your image has been replaced on trust and deleted a lot of pics that you uploaded. But if you do any more please state the name of the replacement image. The deleter can then copy it to the deletion reason and thus leave an audit trail for anybody. -- RHaworth 10:57, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

Tudorbethan Style architecture
Did you read the talk page [1] and the discussions of the editors of this page before you, without discussion, changed it? Giano | talk 07:29, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
- About interpolating "Style" in page titles on architectural subjects: I have had to revert your recent page moves. Please look over the many books and articles you have no doubt read and take a hint from the style designations you are seeing consistently used there. When so very many titles seem to need "correcting", a cautious editor might pause for a moment's reflection. Can so many Wikipedia pages and book titles really be "wrong"? There is a difference between a "Georgian building" and a "Georgian-style building"— though not in California. Moving pages is always a radical step, one that might reasonably be discussed beforehand, so that those more knowledgable can explain to you why certain designations are the common ones employed in informed discourse."Queen Anne Style Architecture" is an appropriate designation: it inherently distinguishes between a style of the 1870s and one of the 1710s. But "Queen Anne Revival Style Architecture" would be a tautology that revealed unfamiliarity with the subject. I hope you understand. --Wetman 16:27, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

City Seal
I just wanted to know if you can help out by Uploading an image file of the Seal of the City and Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska [3], because you did a good job on the Sitka, Alaska City Seal. I just wanted you to do this for the Anchorage, Alaska city article project. It is sad that Anchorage is Alaska's largest city and one of United States major Cities and it only has two images in its city article.
I would like for you to feel free to leave any feedback for me you may have for me at my Talk page. Thank you.
I tried to work the Upload file, but I coulden't understand how to get it to work.

Thank you
Thanks for voting to support my RfA. I wasn't expecting an unopposed promotion (I thought I'd hit some die-hard edit-counters at least) and I'm touched by the trust shown in me. I'll try my best to continue to earn that trust. But first, I'll have to work on not sounding like a politician; that last sentence was awful. Oh well. Unsourced images
Hi, I see that images such as Image:AT&SF44CatLosAngelesCA9-24-66.jpg and friends have no source information, which means that we can't tell if they're legitimate fair use or not. This means that they're likely to be deleted within a few days, so if you want to keep them, please update them with more details. Stan 06:40, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
