Lorenzen Vern-Gagne Wright (born November 4, 1975 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American NBA basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks.
After being selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1996 NBA Draft out of the University of Memphis, the 6'11" (213 cm), 240 lbs (102 kg) power forward was considered an underachiever in three seasons with the team that drafted him and was shipped to the Atlanta Hawks in 1999. He improved in his second year with the Hawks after lifting his points and rebounds per game averages from 6.0 and 4.1 to 12.4 and 7.5. Disgruntled after the Hawks won just 25 of 82 games, they traded him to the Grizzlies team in their inaugural season in Memphis after the franchise relocated from Vancouver in 2001.
A born and raised in Memphis, Wright has played all levels of basketball in Memphis - high school, collegiately and professionally. He holds a one-week summer camp in Memphis for all ages of up and coming Memphian basketball stars.
He holds career averages of 8.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Wright recently signed a two-year contract to rejoin the Atlanta Hawks.[1]
