Loren C. Ball (born 1949, possibly 1948) is an accomplished amateur astronomer who has discovered a fair number of asteroids while working at his Emerald Lane Observatory in Decatur, Alabama. As of 2005, Mr. Ball had credit for the discovery of 147 asteroids with the Minor Planet Center at Harvard. Over the next few years, the majority of these discoveries will be given official numbered designations and become nameable. They will then be added to those listed in the accompanying table.
