Lord William Charles Augustus Cavendish-Bentinck

Lieutenant Colonel Lord William Charles Augustus Cavendish-Bentinck, great-great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, was born on 3 October 1780 the son of William Cavendish-Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland (1738 - 1809) (who was Prime Minister in 1783 and again in 1807-1809) and Lady Dorothy Cavendish (1750 - 1794).

He married, firstly, Georgiana Augusta Frederica Seymour on 21 September 1808. He married, secondly, Lady Anne Wellesley, daughter of Richard Wellesley, 2nd Earl of Mornington and Hyacinthe Gabrielle Roland, on 16 July 1816, with whom he had four children, namely: 1. Anne Cavendish Cavendish-Bentinck 2. Emily Cavendish Cavendish-Bentinck 3. Reverend Charles William Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck (1817- 1865) 4. Lt.-Gen. Arthur Cavendish-Bentinck

The third child was the great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.

He died on 28 April 1826 at age 45.1
